Hello there.
First thing, good job doing the SYF video, now with that done, we can concentrate on the set and choice piece.
Yes yes, i know that we are changing choice piece. And it'll be tough for everyone to learn a new song in this short period of time. Do note that SYF is in April/May. You may think that there's still a long time, but actually we don't.
You all say that you practice at home and stuffs. But have you ever asked yourself this question : " are you practicing the correct stuffs?" It might sound "correct" to you but actually it's not.
Our band currently is not progressing at a rate that it needs to. Why? You ask yourself.
Are you really putting in enough effort? What do you want to get for SYF? Silver? Our standard is still far from there. SYF and SIBF is different. And we had more members during SIBF too. I hope that you guys really start to realize amount of time we have.
Please start to ask your section leaders or me if you have questions in playing, i'll try to help as much as i can.

And in case some people don't know.. SYF is a NATIONAL competition. The atmosphere then will be super stressful and scary. Your fingers might not move. And there will be SEVEN judges judging us. I want to make sure everyone goes up to the stage with confidence and proud that we're part of Clementi Woods Band.

Don't be discourage that we're changing choice piece. I know the Mt Taishan is a nice song and if we play that song chances of us getting silver is very high. But now.. See la, don't wanna practice. I really hope that the up coming plan for sat pracs really improve our band standard. (:
So far, the section i see that has improve the most is...............

TROMBONE! :D

Our band is small to the extend till each of us is like playing one part each. You might not be use to it but there's no choice. Don't be depend on your section leader. You all are playing different parts, there would be chords and make sure during combine practice Mr Han can hear it.
Each of you are like VIP players, each a part. Each important to the band.
Each section is suppose to sound like one. The sound shd be able to blend with each other.
Whatever mr han said during practice i hope you have took it down or made some markings on your score.
Don't tell me that you can rmb it. YOU CAN'T. Write it down. By now, you shd roughly be able to play MOF without looking at your score alrd. If you still can't. Means, you're not practicing hard enough.

Jiayou band, we CAN do it. (:

Hey band.
It's just gona be 3 more months till SYF.
Do you guys see the amount of time we have?
HAVE SOME SENSE OF URGENCY ! :D
Please start practicing and DO NOT SKIP BAND PRACS ANYMORE.
I'm sure you all don't want Mr Han to scold us like the last practice right? He almost walked out of the band room door.
Practice, practice and practice! But don't practice the wrong thing. Record down wad you are practicing and hear it. If it seems weird mean you are playing it wrong.. To make yourself a better player is to never look down on yourself. Believe in yourself. Have confidence. Take note on all the little details on your scold. Do you need to play loud? NO. Hw big is our band... Less than 30 members. 100% can hear you one. The only people that nid to play louder are : BASS CLARINET , TROMBONE , HORNS AND TIMPANI. And others too if your scores ask you to play loud.
Many people have this thinking that F (forte)  means loud. It does not mean play till blasting. It's just asking to play a little louder so that the judges or conductor knows that you are there.

And please also note that you play a part for a purpose.  Be it cords or harmonization.. Mostly the lowest notes nid to be the loudest, followed by the middle note then the softest goes to the highest note.
I'm thinking of Saturday practices next year. This way we will get more practice.
Some of your attendance are not even fixed. DO NOT TREAT YOUR CCA LIKE A HOTEL.

CCA is there for you to be able to challenge yourself to handle stress, manage your time wisely and become disciplined.
Have you all realize hw small our band is. We are kinda in trouble. Almost each person playing one part.

So each of you most PLAY OUT but NOT too LOUD as we are a small band. So keep your attendance stable and lastly, let's all work hard to get a SILVER. :DDD
